Social Committee Meeting Minutes
April 28, 2026
7:00pm
In attendance: Christine Andreo; Mary Ellen Marsalek; Claudia Pulise; and Michelle O’Hara.
Absent: Kathy Levandoski and Mary Jane Walsh
Committee Reports:
Finance – Treasurer Michelle O’Hara reported the budget remains unchanged since
March, as no reimbursement requests have been submitted.
• Communications – Communications Director, Mary Ellen Marsalek had no updates
regarding committee communications at this time.
• Supply Recap – Since no one is specifically responsible for purchasing or tracking
Social Committee supplies, the members agreed to review the current inventory
before submitting Event Forms. Afterwards, they will include the cost of any
necessary supplies in the event budget to ensure all needs are covered.
Event Recap:
4/4 Walden Annual Easter Egg Hunt
• Kathy Levandoski and Cindy Gallagher, Chairpersons
• 19 children registered
• A few children who hadn’t registered attended while a few who did register did not
attend
4/18 Welcome to Walden New Homeowner Orientation
• Kathy Levandoski, Chairperson
• SSI Access, Walden website portal review and neighborhood orientation
• 19 homeowner registrants with approximately 30 in attendance
4/24 2nd Annual Walk for Autism Happy Hour Kick Off
• Claudia Pulise, Chairperson
• Typical HH format with attendees BYOB and appetizer to share
• Approximately 40+ in attendance
• Raffle tickets were sold for the Walk event drawing of ~ 15 donated gift baskets
4/25 2nd Annual Walk for Autism - Walk Event
• Event organized by Walden Cares
• Claudia Pulise, Chairperson
• 25 Registered walkers as compared to ~ 40 walkers for 2025 event
• Lead volunteers, Kathy and Ed Levandoski, managed the purchase and set
up/clean-up of light breakfast foods and beverages supplied by Social Committee
and offered to the community members in attendance
• Monetary donations totaling approximately $2500 were collected and presented to
Autism Delaware
• Donations came in ~ $200 less than year prior
• Walden resident, Stephanie Lombardo delivered remarks specific to personal
experience
• HOA president, John Reumann delivered remarks
• Changes to the structure of the event were proposed and will be further developed
prior to next year’s event

5/21 Delaware State Parks & Rec - Coastal Park System Presentation

• Review of coastal parks, fees, volunteer opportunities, etc.

Wine Dinner update
• Mary Jane was absent and unable to provide updated details to her proposal of this
event.
Walden HOA Social Committee Charter Review
• Members have tabled this discussion until next month to allow for an opportunity to
better prepare talking points
No Committee Secretary
• Committee members to rotate the duty of taking meeting minutes
• Mary Ellen, Christine and Michelle will share in the rotation
• Mary Ellen will take the April meeting minutes.
Committee Volunteers
• Reviewed list of committee members and the list of general volunteers to the
committee
• Discussed the distinction between the two.
• Mary Ellen has posted both lists in SSI in the committee files under the Docs tab
• Volunteer contact list is good resource for members seeking assistance with events.
New Business
Planned events June August 2026
6/6 Scavenger Hunt
• Members agreed to postpone this event for further development and possible
rescheduling in the fall
6/5 Happy Hour
• Members agreed to add a Happy Hour to cover early June social gathering
• Theme will be “Meet New Neighbors”
• Mary Ellen will work on the SSI posting
• Claudia and Christine will chair and will be “greeters” as attendees arrive
• Attendees will wear name tags
6/26 Ice Cream Social w/ Uncle David’s Ice Cream
• Michelle O’Hara, Chairperson
• Cost of ice cream has increased from last year’s event from $4 to $5 per cup
• Michelle’s budget for the event will include the 100 ice creams minimum plus a
$100 tip to Uncle David’s
• Uncle David’s will have a tip jar at the event for additional discretionary donations
from attendees
7/4 4th of July Community Parade and Hot Dog BBQ
• Claudia will reach out to Nancy and Phil Tartaglione regarding chairing the event
7/24 Poolside Happy Hour
• 5pm – 8pm

• BYOB (no glass) and appetizer to share
• Pool games TBD
8/7 Poolside Happy Hour
• Members agreed to cancel. Too soon after 7/24 HH
8/22 Summer Send Off Party
